2026 Design Showcase
& Runway Show
Tulane’s Annual Design Showcase + Runway Show features studio work from 10+ Design courses and over 100 students. This event is an opportunity for our students to celebrate the creative and innovative projects they’ve completed over the last two semesters. Work includes prints pinned up, lighting designs, furniture prototypes, wearable designs on the runway and more.
The 2026 event was designed and executed by 3 faculty members and 9 students who were selected through an application process. Each faculty member led one of the three planning teams: Graphics, Layout, and Runway.
Event Graphics
For the 2026 Design Showcase, I was a part of the Graphics team, responsible for the overall aesthetic and visual aspects of the event.
Within a team of three, we worked together to provide event advertisements, digital and printed signage, and interactive decorations.
Event Program
One of my main contributions to the event was the creation of a printed program. The program featured information on exhibited projects, the design degree, the event layout, selected student names, and more!
Through ideation and testing, I created a partially accordion fold for the program. The striping used in the branding served as markers for folds.
Interactive Installation
One of my responsibilities on the graphics team was designing an interactive piece for attendees at the showcase. After going through a variety of ideas, we decided to make a “sign-in sheet”.
Guests were prompted to draw self portraits of themselves on the piece, as a way of identifying attendees. A mix of black and silver markers allowed them to take creative liberties on their portrait.
This piece ended up being successful, resulting in a board full of faces that is now displayed in Richardson Memorial Hall, the school’s building on campus.
2025 Design Showcase
& Runway Show
For the 2025 event, I was on the Layout team, where we worked to design the organization of the event, how to display the work, and more.
The showcase highlights work across all 4 years of the design program, including 10+ different courses.
Event Layout
Our first objective was to create a floor plan of the event, marking where each course is exhibited and how we want attendees to be able to explore the space. Below are mockups of the floor plan before we decided on the final layout.
The Main Entrance
One of my contributions to the event was the design and layout of the entrance of the event. This space was used to display two different courses, one where students created light sculptures and one where students made portmanteau furniture pieces. The entrance needed to be open and welcoming, allowing attendees to wander through viewing the work and be easy to enter and exit.
The furniture pieces were arranged in the center of the room, allowing attendees to walk between them. The light sculptures were placed on the sides of the room, under pipe and drape to enhance the effect of their light.
Streetcar Pavilions
This room featured 14 student models of a proposed stop for streetcar riders to use while waiting during their commute.
The models were displayed on a mocked up streetcar track, with wire trees and small pink scale figures. A TV in the corner of the room displayed rendered perspective photos of the models.
Runway Show
One of the main attractions of the event is the Runway Show, featuring textile projects completed by students over the course of the year. A main feature of the layout is the runway, which takes up most of the main room and is surrounded by seating for attendees.
This year, work featured in the runway was then displayed afterwards in a back room that was only opened after the show. Attendees were led into the room by a second line as the runway show concluded. Below are some photos of the textile display.
